Not so long ago we celebrated the Foreign Service Day, which was an amazing occasion for a discussion about Polish diplomacy and the everyday work of the diplomats themselves.

On the occasion of the material prepared by TVP Polonia devoted to the celebration of the Polish foreign service, the head of our center, Prof Beata Piskorska presented to the listeners the process of evolution of modern diplomacy and the challenges facing Polish officials who serve Poland abroad on a daily basis.

It’s very difficult to measure the effectiveness of a diplomat’s work. It cannot be calculated as in the case of hard power – the amount and type of weaponry. Diplomacy is primarily about social and personal skills – said prof Beata Piskorska, the manager of the Center for the Study of Diplomacy KUL, for the TVP Polania. Prof. Piskorska highlighted how important for Polish foreign politics is having a specialised staff and highly developed soft skills.
