To provide participants in our initiatives, especially those interested in pursuing a career in the foreign service with a practical insight into the daily work of a diplomat, the Catholic University of Lublin’s Center for the Study of Diplomacy organizes study trips to Polish state institutions and foreign missions of third countries located in Poland. Meetings with diplomats are an ideal opportunity to better understand the specifics of the profession and allow for a more precise planning of one’s future career.

On the 12th of December 2024, with the participation of students and doctoral students from the John Paul II Catholic University of Lublin, we organized a study trip to Warsaw, where we visited the Austrian Embassy in Warsaw and the Austrian Cultural Forum. During the meetings, participants could learn more about the functioning of the Austrian institution and the Forum’s activities to promote the culture of their own country in Poland. The participants’ meeting with the Austrian Ambassador to Poland, His Excellency Andreas Stadler, and the Forum Director, Arnold Obermayr, was particularly valuable. They answered all the questions the audience had about the work of a diplomat.

As part of the trip, we also visited the Diplomatic Academy of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, where Ambassador Marcin Tatarzyński, Deputy Director of the Academy, spoke to the participants about the recruitment process for the traineeship and its course. During the visit, participants also had the opportunity to have personal conversations with applicants and ask about their experiences with the recruitment process and the studies themselves.
