The center started its operations on May 31, 2023.
The inaugural lecture “How Much of God Is There in Contemporary Diplomacy?” was delivered by the Director of the Diplomatic Academy in Vienna, Dr. Emil Brix.
The Center for the Study of Diplomacy is an international center for research, education, and public engagement, specializing in the broad field of diplomacy.
The aim of the Center for the Study of Diplomacy is to carry out interdisciplinary and multi-disciplinary research in areas such as:
- a multidimensional approach to state, institutional, historical, public, scientific, climatic, military and economic diplomacy;
- diplomatic protocol;
- communication of Poles in Poland and abroad;
- the history and contemporary thought of diplomacy as well as diplomatic bibliography, the results of which will be published in the form of reports, articles, bibliographic notes, and monographs.
An important aspect of the center’s activities is also creating a rich and unique educational offer at the university level, primarily in the form of postgraduate studies, but also in the form of certified training and workshops, as well as a Summer School of Diplomacy.
The Center also serves as a hub for cultural diplomacy and an open forum for international debate on major current socio-political issues, the historical context of diplomacy, ethical dimensions of diplomatic service, the promotion of Poland and its viewpoints internationally, and discussions regarding the strengthening of Poland’s position in international affairs.
All activities of the Center are interdisciplinary and international, thus promoting a holistic approach to scientific research as well as the development of students and learners.
Mission
The mission of The Center for the Study of Diplomacy is to fill the research gap by creating an international and interdisciplinary research center that comprehensively addresses the topic of diplomacy, taking into account its various forms, evolution, and principles.
The center also offers a rich educational program at the university level, including in an international format, aimed at a wide range of audiences, including students, political and social leaders, representatives of local government and non-governmental organizations, business representatives, as well as young graduates entering their professional careers in Poland and abroad.
